Booted in Philadelphia comes down to a count, not a surprise. PPA boots a vehicle with 3 or more unpaid parking, red-light, or speed-camera tickets, or with $300 or more owed. After the boot is on, you have 72 hours to pay the tickets plus the $150 boot fee before a tow. The $175 tow fee applies only once that 72 hours has run. Then you must remove the vehicle within 2 hours of boot release.
How many tickets, and which ones count
The trigger is 3 or more unpaid parking, red-light, or speed-camera tickets, or a balance of $300 or more. Either side of that “or” is enough. Speed-camera tickets on Roosevelt Boulevard have been live since 2020. PPA speed cameras on Broad Street began in January 2025. Unpaid camera tickets count toward the same boot.
Before booting, PPA sends 10 or more notices after a 45-day wait. The boot is not the first letter. If mail went to an old address, you can still be in the count.
This is a PPA rule inside the city. It is not a Norristown rule, an Upper Darby rule, or a King of Prussia rule. Suburban boots, if a town uses them, are that town’s ordinance. They are not this schedule.
The 72-hour boot-to-tow clock
Once the boot is on, the owner has 72 hours to pay the tickets plus the $150 boot fee before a tow. The $175 under-11,000-pound tow fee applies only after those 72 hours have run. Pay inside the window and you are buying boot release, not a lot bill.
After the boot comes off, remove the vehicle within 2 hours. That 2-hour rule is PPA’s, published with the boot schedule. Leave it sitting and you can be right back in a tow zone.
If the 72 hours lapses, the car can go to a PPA lot. Then storage starts at $25 per 24 hours plus 22.5% tax for a vehicle under 11,000 pounds. Find it at findmytowedcar.org or 888-591-3636. Published lots with phones:
- Lot 1, 2501 Weccacoe Ave, (215) 683-9550
- Lot 6, 4701 Bath Street, (215) 683-9510
- Lot 10, 6 E. Oregon Avenue, (215) 683-9601
Confirm the lot. PPA uses more than these three.
Work the numbers only as PPA’s. Boot $150. Tow $175 only after 72 hours. Storage $25 per 24 hours plus 22.5% tax. Ticket balances sit on top. None of that is a Quick Tow Philadelphia price.
What this brand can and cannot do
Quick Tow Philadelphia is a referral service. We do not remove PPA boots. We do not collect PPA ticket debt. We cannot cut a boot or waive the $150 fee.
If the car is released and cannot be driven, we line up an operator and quote before dispatch. Call (610) 557-1544 or use /contact/. See emergency towing for that haul. See the impound cost guide if the 72 hours already ran.
A private-lot boot is not this program. Private-property tows inside the city need a 9-605 licensed operator and written owner permission. That track is private property towing.
Pay PPA first if the boot is theirs. Then call us only if the released car still needs a truck.
Frequently asked questions
How many tickets before PPA boots a car in Philadelphia?
Three or more unpaid parking, red-light, or speed-camera tickets, or $300 or more owed. Either trigger is enough.
Do I get towed the moment the boot goes on?
No. You have 72 hours to pay the tickets plus the $150 boot fee. The $175 tow applies only after that 72 hours has run.
What happens after the boot is released?
Remove the vehicle within 2 hours of boot release. That is PPA’s rule. Leaving it in place can put you back in a tow.
Can Quick Tow Philadelphia take the boot off?
No. PPA boots are a PPA process. We refer licensed operators for a separate tow after the car is cleared, with the price quoted before dispatch.
